The Proença-a-Nova area is great for tourism.
The rural tourism in this area is likely to be increasingly sought after with visitors appreciating the unspoilt environment with clean and fresh rivers and streams, making for a wide variety of fauna and breathtaking views. The principal water supply is from direct or indirect water courses from the main Zêzere and Ocreza rivers.
This provides the perfect setting for riverside beaches, where you can enjoy water activities in these water courses without harming the surrounding area.
You have several activities at your disposal that you can enjoy during your stay here.
You can roam the trails created by the flocks and shepherds by foot or bicycle, or you can enjoy Fróia’s river beach and its clear and clean water. This village is the ideal spot to rest and get your energy back, breathing the reinvigorating air of the mountain.
Fróia
Fróia’s river beach is located 300m from the OLIVEIRAS village, so you can access it on foot, which makes for a lovely walk through the surrounds of the village.
Malhadal
Located near Oleiros.
Aldeia Ruiva
Located near the Isna de S. Carlos.
Besides these three beaches we suggest, there are in the Alvito da Beira area, two more river beaches: the Couca (Cerejeiras) beach and the Alvito da Beira beach.
The nearest spot is the Fróia’s river beach bar, which is within walking distance. In Sobreira Formosa you’ll also find coffee shops and bars and in Proença-a-Nova there are some nice spots that are open until later on in the night. The city of Sertã is an alternative to extend your night.
